Sunny and I met for a coffee last year just to catch up. She was looking for her next thing and I was stuck with an empty space - (I had a bad idea to open up a beer and hot dog shop that was beloved by me and short lived.) Along with Dora, Mike, Christine, Alison, Elise, Kate, Agnes, Payton, Moe, Fanny, Willow, Ken, John, Jose, Juanito and others we built a restaurant @sunnsnyc from a place of wanting to do something fun, delicious, and hopefully it could pay the bills but if not, we’d have a good time. Today it got reviewed by the nytimes and it’s beautiful to see accolades for someone like sunny and all the others who choose to work in restaurants not because it’s cool but because it’s what we do, have always done and still love it. This feels like one for the good ones, Sunny and the crew are that.

I’ve never posted about politics but now is the time. If you know me, mint chocolate chip ice cream is very important to me. White mint chocolate chip ice cream is anti-patriotic, cruel, and RFK is betraying his family’s legacy with this decision.

A couple months ago I started working with @banchanbysunny to help put together her restaurant in the former Pig Bar space (RIP). If you don’t know her, she of course makes great food, but also is an exceptional leader and just a great person to get to be around. @helenr of the @newyorkermag captured the essence of sunny and the reason we opened this spot perfectly. If you still read the news, please check it out.

This year our team has done a ton, it’s good work, I hope you can enjoy it and I get to see you too. Thank you to everyone involved. by @grantissimi

@chefrontini and our team opened a restaurant called @tolo_nyc last year and a bunch of very smart people who eat a lot and have a lot of opinions, called it one of the best new restaurants in America. We didnt open it for any reason other than to give Ron a platform to unabashedly make food he loves and serve some nice wine alongside that.

Hey! I helped open a restaurant with a really nice guy named Mitsuru. That’s also the name of the restaurant @mitsurunyc . We met through mutual customers, he’s really talented and loves wine. The idea is pretty simple - nice sushi, other Japanese dishes that pair well with the wines I love and a cozy room.

It’s on West 4th st near washington square park. I once had someone just walk away with $40 when trying to buy weed there when I was 14 so a lot has changed for me since then I suppose.

I hope you come by. It’s good!

I’m 1 year late posting about @tolo_nyc a restaurant I helped open with my partner @chefrontini and Dora (no IG, respect) and the kind, pro team they lead.

If you haven’t been, dig deep and really ask yourself why. If you have, thank you so much. I love it there.

While we’re here, the recent openings I have been a part of have been built by @moe1140 Moe is the nicest guy in nyc restaurants and has had this title for over 30 years. Along with his team, he oversees the construction and permitting to get the lights on. If you’re in the restaurant business or aspiring to be, he’s the guy.

I heard Tolo has free wine tonight too. by @grantissimi

@christinecollado and I opened up a wine bar. We found an amazing piece of sidewalk on Hudson St. where it’ll live until the end of October. The bumpy sidewalk is called Parcelle Patio. Thanks to all the people who helped pull this together in just a couple of weeks. It feels great, and we hope you come hang on our sidewalk—I’ll be there! Stewart too. A lot of people these days, most often my mother and sister, ask me to send them some wine. The prerequisites are simple: whatever’s really good and not too expensive. Well, we started a monthly drop of wines that are exactly that. Welcome to the world, Wine Drop! The idea came from drinking a couple bottles mid-quarantine with @heyguysitsclarke. The illustrations are by the hilarious and talented @doodle_deli. There are also some beautiful baseball cards designed by @mik_cooper.
