I’m guessing we could all benefit from decreasing our criticism of others. There are times to disagree and correct, but do we sometimes only add to the damage of poor choices by vocalizing our thoughts about them? The kind and uplifting voice builds confidence and heals hearts. by @hankrsmith

When the Oakland Temple’s exterior lights were turned off during an energy crisis, air traffic control called asking for them to come back on. Pilots had been using the temple as a landmark to help them find their way. What a beautiful reminder that the temple points us toward the Savior, whose light can guide us through our darkest moments.

➡️ How has the temple helped you find direction in your life?

Yesterday may not have gone the way you hoped, but you can turn to Christ again today. Start with a prayer, a small act of kindness, or one choice that brings you closer to Him. by @hankrsmith

In Ephesians 6, Paul teaches us to put on the whole armor of God, including the helmet of salvation. Just like a bike helmet protects us physically, our daily choices can protect us spiritually. Prayer, scripture study, repentance, and choosing the Lord's way help us stay connected to Heavenly Father. Following the Savior may not always help us fit in, but that's not the purpose of the helmet. Its purpose is to protect us. by @hankrsmith

What feels like our greatest disadvantage may become a place where the Lord reveals His power. In this followHIM Favorites, John shares the story of a young judo student whose teacher saw possibilities he couldn’t yet see. Isaiah’s promise of “beauty for ashes” reminds us that the Savior can bring something beautiful from even our most painful experiences.

➡️ How has the Lord helped you find beauty in a difficult season?

We are here not only to be acted upon, but also to act. We can create better circumstances for ourselves and our loved ones through vision, goals, and hard work. You are the creative force of your life. If you have a dream, you are the one that has to make it happen. When you see others who have achieved their goals and dreams, you are probably also looking at thousands of unseen hours of work practice, and dedication. Yes, you have incredibly difficult circumstances no one knows about. You aren’t the cause of all your problems, but you are the one who has to solve them. If you’ll ask the Lord to show you your unique gifts, then embrace and increase those gifts through hours of work, and lastly dedicate your life and your gifts to a cause greater than yourself, you’ll achieve a happiness beyond your greatest expectations. by @hankrsmith

The first two principles of the gospel are faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and repentance. Why does the Lord emphasize those first two lessons? They’re the daily bread. He might be saying “You’ll use these 24/7. You’ll need them this morning, this afternoon, and again tonight.” by @hankrsmith

"When something is over and done with, when it has been repented of as fully as it can be repented of, when life has moved on as it should and a lot of other wonderfully good things have happened since then, it is not right to go back and open some ancient wound that the Son of God Himself died to heal. What does it mean that the Savior’s Atonement is infinite and eternal? Imagine someone choosing to walk through a series of doors and experience every pain and sickness a loved one would ever face. Such a choice offers a small glimpse of the Savior’s willingness to suffer because of His love and desire to understand each person fully. His infinite Atonement reaches everyone, and His compassion is deeply personal.

➡️ How can understanding that love inspire greater trust in Him?
