Had a LOVELY time in Barrhead, Alberta, last week, talking about A.I. and why it still doesn’t take away the magic humans create. I had a short visit to the local coffee shop/bakery/garden centre, De Herdt Gardens in Barrhead and WOW, what an example!

They’re weird (like Leopold’s weird, like in an awesome way). The coffee was great, the pastries looked unreal, and their “marketing” was knowing EXACTLY who they are! And yes, they do have dancing owners on their Instagram! But they also have old family pictures on their website. Umbrellas on the ceiling, funny signs in the washroom (God, I love a funny washroom sign!). This company is doing everything we would tell them to do if we worked with them! What a place to visit before you go on stage and tell people AI can’t take your WEIRD away!!

On top of that, the spread they had at this event was incredible, like the food was 5-stars at the Ritz. And you know how I like food. 10/10 would go there again!!

There are some awesome folks in and around Barrhead who care about their work, their community, and learning new tools. Thank you for being wonderful hosts; I had an absolute blast!

Below are some shots from my man Adam! And some of my favourite slides!! HA!

From breakfast sammies to Your People’s Champ. 🏆😂

G3T’s 18th year, and WHAT a week!!

I joined in 2011. Couldn’t afford the original trip, but thanks to Derek, my ticket in was being the chef. Breakfast sammies every morning, baby!

Fast forward to this year in the Dominican:
⛳️Punta Espada
⛳️Teeth of the Dog
⛳️Corales Punta Cana
⛳️The Lakes Barceló

Something must’ve been in the water down here because I shot an 84 in round one and an 82 (tying my best round EVER!) in round two, sealing the championship by a margin Trevor Galon would be proud of.
To my riding partner both days @jelausch thanks for bringing the energy. We had fun! 🥰🥰

To Robbie and Grant: hell of a job organizing and finding us an incredible place to go.🙏🙏🙏

To the rest of the fellas: what a treat. We’re leaving better golfers and, more importantly, better friends. ❤️
Can’t WAIT for the champions dinner!

Your People’s Champ, signing off.

Now WHO’S A BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BOOOOOOOOOY!?!??!

WHO CARES more? 🧐🥰

We’re looking for companies and organizations that Care More. Our first feature? Supreme China Bistro in the Vic Square Mall. 😳

Yup. Mall food.

It’s my daughter’s favourite restaurant, and I think I know why. They PACK those takeout containers. Like… the elastic band is hanging on for dear life!

They care more about the portion. They give you so much food that every time we go back, it feels like we’re getting away with something. It might genuinely be one of the best takeout values in history (may or may not be able to verify this claim).

And that’s the point of this series. Caring More doesn’t have to mean changing the world. Sometimes it means giving people a little more than they expected.

A little more food.
A little more service.
A little more attention.
A little more effort.

Those are the things people remember.

NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Tag a company or organization below that CARES MORE and tell us WHY.

We’ve got two $25 Supreme China Bistro gift certificates for two of our favourite nominations. Tell us where we should film next!

What a time in Saskatoon!🫡😎🙌

Yesterday I had a blast presenting “What’s Your Hot Dog? Standing Out in the Age of AI” for the Interior Designers Association of Saskatchewan.

Yes, we talked about AI. Yes, we talked about hot dogs and Costco. And yes, there were trivia prizes: Darkside Donuts (obviously!), a case of Great Western beer, and homemade pickles from yours truly. An eclectic prize table, even by my standards.😂

The Great Western beer prize had a story behind it. The day before, I heard about their history of hiring people with disabilities. I hadn’t known that, and it struck me as the kind of thing people should be talking about. So naturally, I brought beer to a presentation about standing out and told the story I heard from the day before! (Thanks Laura!!!!)

Great questions, great conversations, and a room full of people who made it fun. Thanks for having me, @idasaskatchewan! by @jephmaystruck

Next stop on our burger journey was @paddywagonco!! 😍😳😍 Tez’s favourite burger!!!

What a treat!! They even had grilled cheese for the boy!

You still have until sept 20th to support @bbbsregina by going to a participating restaurant and ordering a burger!!🍔🍔🍔 by @jephmaystruck

Jim Carrey once said, I hope everybody gets to be as successful as I am just to realize that this won’t make you happy. by @jephmaystruck

GO EAT BURGERS FOR A GREAT CAUSE!!! 😍🍔🍔

We love community organizations, we also love community organizations that do innovative fundraising!! The @bbbsregina really out did themselves this time!

Until Sept 20, every burger you order at participating restaurants, cash money gets donated to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Regina. It’s really that simple! (And delicious!)

We visited @leicesterfamilyrestaurantyxr, @thekegsteakhouse, and @pumpjacks_cathedral and let me tell you, all these burgers were UNREAL!!

Go support a great organization and eat a delicious burger! You can also vote for your favourite burger in the @bbbsregina website!!

Got the most perfect gift in the mail yesterday from a long time friend @bmadder. 🙏😍

“Care More” a @hughcards original @gapingvoid print from 2012, number 4 out of 100. I LOVE it.

The ironic part is Bill was the main reason I got to speak at the Banff Western Connection conference in 2015, the same conference Hugh would be speaking at. Bill introduced me to Hugh. Without knowing he’d be there, I had used several of Hugh’s business card designs in my presentation that day. It was a very surreal moment. Also nailed the presentation! Haha😤

Meeting one of my favourite authors/artists was incredible. He was very generous with his time, we had a cocktail on the second day and talked about life, writing, creativity and him becoming a Dad.

Some moments you never forget. That was one. Thanks Bill. 🙏🙏🙏 by @jephmaystruck
