Coffee Buns ☕️

For the Dough

Warm milk: 120 ml = ½ cup

Sugar: ¼ cup

Instant yeast: 2 tsp

Egg: 1

All-purpose flour: 2 cups

Salt: ¼ tsp

Butter: 30 g = 2 tbsp

For the Filling

- Salted butter: cut into small cubes

For the Coffee Topping

Butter: 60 g = ¼ cup (4 tbsp)

Icing sugar: 60 g = ½ cup

Egg: 1

Instant coffee: 1 tbsp

Hot water: 2 tbsp

Vanilla essence: ½ tsp

All-purpose flour: 70 g = ½ cup + 1 tbsp approximately

In a bowl, add lukewarm milk, sugar and yeast. Mix well, then add the egg and all-purpose flour. Mix and knead until a dough forms.
Add butter and knead well until the dough becomes soft and smooth. Cover and let it rest for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Once the dough has risen, divide it into equal-sized balls. Flatten each ball, add a cube of salted butter in the centre and seal properly.
Place the buns on a baking tray, cover and let them rest for another 30–40 minutes.
For the coffee topping, whisk melted butter and icing sugar until well combined. Add the egg, coffee mixture and vanilla essence. Mix well, then add the all-purpose flour and mix until smooth.
Transfer the coffee mixture to a piping bag and refrigerate for 15–20 minutes.
Pipe the coffee topping in a spiral over each bun.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 18–20 minutes, or until golden and the topping is crisp.

Enjoy your homemade coffee buns! ☕️🤎
