Let’s get one thing straight— things are bleak. The past 4 years has been filled with broken promises, climate catastrophe, record breaking profits for the ruling class, and ethnic genocide. Even better, we now get to witness the rise of American fascism before our very eyes, with little to no practical legislative opposition. Republicans write our demise, and the democrats help them spellcheck. There is much we have to do. Just because the horrors activists have warned us about for years are finally happening doesn’t mean we get to lie down and accept it. All change throughout history has always been brought about by the masses of people demanding that the few surrender their power and influence to make way for the rolling tides of progress. It is only through direct, grassroots, on-the-ground advocacy and resistance, that we Americans can begin to take on the seemingly invincible forces of capital, and create a society where all can prosper. If you truly believe yourself to be against the incoming trump administration, please, don’t clock out for the next 4 years— use your power, your rights, and your community, to do something about it. Join an advocacy organization. Unionize your workplace. Facilitate mutual aid in your community. Anything— please just do ANYTHING, to resist. Waiting accomplishes nothing. Lamenting over the defeat of an also deplorable candidate accomplishes nothing. Waiting for the democrats to get themselves together and become a formidable, progressive party (unlikely) accomplishes nothing. Get out there, and DO SOMETHING. And more importantly, stay safe, and protect your marginalized loved ones.
