It was truly an honour to host the Afghan Refugee Women’s XI in the first match of their UK tour yesterday. Our connection with these remarkable Afghan women began with the establishment of the Global Cricket Refugee Fund and MCCF will continue to support refugees and displaced people around the world.
They played an MCCF Select XI comprising girls from our MCCF Hubs in a T20 at the beautiful Wormsley Cricket Ground. The match was a thriller, with the tourists winning by two wickets!
The collaboration between ICC, ECB, MCC, Cricket Australia and Pitch Our Future to help these inspiring cricketers is a testament to what the cricket community can do on a global stage.

It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this event yesterday and to witness how truly inspirational the Afghan Women were. This was without doubt the most enjoyable and satisfying cricket match I have had the pleasure to watch. I look forward to seeing you all again but, at Lord’s very soon!

Couldn’t have had a more fitting team to play against for the first match of the tour! You’ve bean amazing right from the very start all those years ago. Thank you just doesn’t cut it. 🙏🏽
