We counted 1566 nurdles/biobeads at 100 meters of high tide line at the Belgian coast these last days. We even found drift seeds from America because of the persistent northern wind.

I live pretty much as far from the sea as you can get in England. But I promise you, every time I get to a beach I do a Beach Clean! Where I go in Cornwall has changed a lot over the last 20 years. There is far less actual ‘litter’ but so much more fishing net and so many nurdles 😢

These plastic pellets may be small, but once they enter the coastline they can spread widely and threaten marine wildlife for years! 🔎♻️ Huge respect to the volunteers helping uncover the true scale of the spill.
