In the last few weeks, I have worked on this pattern with bucktail. I went with the idea of tying the mono extension on the stinger hook.
Actually, the main idea was to find something other than big curly tails. I wanted to incorporate the tail more into the general look of the fly. The whole fly is tied with two colors of bucktail: white and an awesome mixed white and pink.
I know that it's quite big fly, over 25cm, but I have heard that pike like big flies, right?

That wire extension space gap kinda makes it look like 2 flies more than one. Unless that’s what you’re going for, I would try filling that space with a tube fly working like an extension sleeve cover. That would really help create a fuller more even overall profile and shape.
