Marilyn 100 at the Bradford Literature Festival๐Ÿ’Ÿ The love, celebration and respect for Marilyn Monroe in her centennial year continues! Yesterday, I went to Bradford to listen to two Marilyn talks and attend the UK cinema screening of the charming new documentary film 100 Years of Marilyn Monroe. The screening was followed by a Q&A with Marilyn Monroe impersonator and tribute actress Suzie Kennedy. I follow Suzie online and have been a fan of her work and her podcast for many years now, and it was incredible to finally meet her and hear from her in person. Suzie was more than insightful, informative and elegant, especially when facing some rudeness, lies and persistence regarding Marilyn's life. Suzie spoke confidently and debunked theories with facts and we the audience couldn't have been more grateful for Suzie standing her ground and defending Marilyn. I then attended the panel Feminist Icon: 100 Years of Marilyn Monroe again with Suzie Kennedy and also Cathy Lomax, Julie Owen Moylan and Saeed Khan. It was such an engaging conversation between people who genuinely respect Marilyn and who wanted to talk about a woman who had intelligence and agency. I had a wonderful day in sunny Bradford yesterday celebrating Marilyn and exploring her enduring legacy๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿซถ #marilynmonroe
