This is @ottolenghi festive rice cake — with a few of my own twists! I swapped the maple syrup for elderberry syrup, added a touch of harissa, and mixed in some cultivated lion’s mane mushrooms and then other wild mushrooms I foraged with Michael, Alex and Gemma on Sunday.
Honestly, it’s one of my favourite dishes — so flavourful and comforting. I finished it with pine nuts, spring onions, rocket and mallow on top.

Anyone else got a favourite dish currently? Also who do people use for inspiration?

Be interested to hear!

Food helps define a culture and allow expression in preparation, making the presentation of foods a creative outlet.
Food is the most sensory and multidimensional form of art, we can create sounds, tastes, smells as well as the visual, it also can make people feel by controlling body functions, hormones and sugar levels...also food has this amazing abilty to bring community together, what a powerful tool it is.

Thanks again @deadbeatjack and @josephalexanderguy for filming

Thanks the @themountwithout_events for letting us do this special event at your wonderful venue, for the wonderful chef collaboration with @therapeutic.chef

A week in Greece

Wandering around the local markets, meeting a man from the mountains selling herbs, oils and honey, and finding all sorts of interesting things along the way.

Walking parts of Mount Olympus with Jessie, swimming in the rivers and spending plenty of time out in nature.

And the food was amazing! Had a vegan melitzanopita, a traditional aubergine pie, which was one of the tastiest things I've eaten in ages. Lots of slow-cooked bean soups, wild greens with lemon and olive oil, fava, roasted oyster mushrooms and plenty more.

So much good traditional Greek food is already vegan, which I love. Lots of simple dishes using beans, vegetables, wild greens and really good olive oil.

Definitely coming home with a few ideas for the kitchen! 🌿 by @thegathererwild

Saffron milk caps.
Such a good mushroom to cook with. Fried these with onion and garlic, then threw in pasta, parsley, olive oil and some toasted pine nuts. Nothing fancy, just letting the mushrooms do most of the work.
Definitely one of my favourite autumn finds.
As always with wild mushrooms, only pick and eat what you can confidently identify. Take what you need, leave plenty behind and be mindful of where you’re walking and what you’re disturbing. The habitat is more important than the harvest.
Anyone else finding many of these at the moment?

Some crumble folklore from a field near Glastonbury...

At @ferally_good festival we set out to make the world’s biggest crumble, using apples, plums and berries donated by local people, gardens and orchards, including plenty of fruit that might otherwise have gone to waste.

It was a proper family affair. Lots of hands peeling, chopping, stirring and crumbling, all coming together around one massive pudding.

Cooked over fire by forager chef Peter ‘Chippy’ Grant @thegathererwild and Callum Brunt @callum_brunt, with the huge metal trays and fire-cooking contraption made specially for the occasion by blacksmith and carpenter Will Heard @heardysworkshop.

A massive thank you to @infinityfoodswholesale, @essentialtrading, @shiptonmill and @weareoatier for donating ingredients, and @torrecider for giving us so many apples. And thank you to everyone else who donated fruit, got stuck in, helped along the way or simply came along and shared the day with us.

Then came the great crumble unveiling, hosted by Gordie, with a beautiful poem from his wife Carol, our crumble judges Dec, Stan and Molly, and a blessing from @junx-comix before everyone tucked in.

A bit of harvest celebration, community abundance and good old-fashioned sharing. Made by many, for everyone to eat.

Lovely people, lovely chaos and a lot of crumble. by @thegathererwild

Next Saturday at @ferally_good we’re attempting to make a WORLD RECORD CRUMBLE and we need your help!

We’re after apples, pears, plums and blackberries. If you’ve got a tree dropping more fruit than you know what to do with, have some spare from the allotment or fancy a bit of blackberry picking this week, please bring it along.

We also need Crumbletons to help chop fruit, stir giant pots, make mountains of crumble topping and generally get stuck in.

Crumble became especially popular during the Second World War, when rationing meant people made the most of simple ingredients and whatever fruit was around. So making ours with fruit donated from gardens, allotments and hedgerows feels pretty fitting.

Once we’ve hopefully broken the record, the crumble will be given out FREE to everyone at the festival. Please bring a bowl or Tupperware for your helping!

And if you don’t have fruit or can’t volunteer, you can still really help us by buying a ticket and coming along.

Ferally Good is a small, community-focused folk festival in Glastonbury, with music, dancing, workshops and plenty of other fun happenings. Our tickets are deliberately considerably cheaper than most festivals because we want to keep it accessible. We don’t make a profit from Ferally, we do it for the love of it, and every ticket genuinely helps us keep the festival going.

So please support your little community festival, bring some fruit if you can, bring your Tupperware and come make crumble history with us! 🍎 taken in Glastonbury, Somerset, United Kingdom by @thegathererwild

Hey there Ferally folk!

At Ferally Good this year we are bringing some childhood dreams to life and attempting the worlds biggest crumble and we need some fellow Crumbletons to help us pull it off,,,
We’ll need plenty of hands for chopping fruit, mixing crumble mix, stewing, stirring and all sorts of other important crumble related business, especially eating,,,!!

It’s not been a perfect season for fruit with the hot and dry but the apples are still holding and we’d welcome donations of apples, plums, blackberries and other seasonal fruit so if you’ve got fruit tree and a glut you don’t know what to do with, or fancy getting out and picking some blackberries, bring em on down…!

There will be a ceremonial crumble display on the Saturday of Ferally at around 5 in the afternoon and will be handed out for free to festival goers to fill up til their hearts content.

So if you fancy joining the Crumbleton crew or have some fruit to donate, drop us a message here on Instagram!

Wow, what a blur of a few weeks, but what a success!

It’s mad to think that in 2020 I was cooking crew food pretty much on my own for a gathering of 400 people, and now Medicine is a 10,000-person festival and we’re running nine different food and drink venues across the site.

Alev ran the Medicine Café with Carlotta as head chef, Karma ran our two elixir bars, Meg somehow managed four cacao bars, and Andrea ran our two pizza spots.

We try to source as much of our food as we can locally and organically, working with people like Hodmedod’s, Suma and Essential Trading Co-operative. Loads of the veg this year came from Andrea’s land and The Farmacy’s biodynamic farm, alongside wild ingredients gathered by Gio and his brilliant team of foragers.

I really think the Medicine Café went up another level this year. Carlotta and Thet absolutely smashed it, putting out proper healthy, nourishing food and snacks all weekend, and even managing a full roast dinner using loads of produce from The Farmacy.

A massive thank you to Mahalia for decorating the Medicine Café this year, genuinely the best it has ever looked, and to Millie for all the beautiful flowers that brought the whole place to life.

And a huge thank you to all our managers who kept everything moving: Asher, Ezme, Mark, Thet, Lottie, Steph, Maya, Jamie, Beth, Petay, Ellie and Francis. And of course all the chefs, front of house teams and guardians who worked their arses off throughout the festival. None of it happens without you!

A huge thank you to Bogdan for all his help, guidance and support throughout, and to Jenna and Zak for constantly backing us and trusting us to keep pushing the vision of what food and drink at Medicine can be.

Also a big thank you to Back2Roots Olive Oil, Hobbs House Bakery and The Coconut Collaborative for supporting us with some amazing produce and products.
There are so many people behind the scenes who helped make it happen, and I’m sure I’ll have forgotten someone!

At Primal, we see food as more than just nourishment for the body.

When we know the story behind our food, we begin to value it differently, and in turn, we begin to care more deeply for the land that makes it possible.

The Harvest Adaptogenic Banquet, created by Peter Daniel Grant @thegathererwild, is a celebration of that relationship. A seasonal feast inspired by freshly foraged ingredients, locally sourced by local growers, Chippy has a personal relationship with. It is shared around one table with a community that can enjoy food grown with integrity. The coming together begins with the seeds planted, all the way until it finds you at a shared table of regenerative souls

This a way of living that reminds us we’re all part of something bigger.

Join us this October and experience the harvest together.

Every ingredient that reaches Primal Gathering is hand-selected by Chippy @thegathererwild.

It’s taken years for him to develop these personal relationships and ensure that every produce used, comes from farms growing with integrity.

Food to him isn’t a product, it’s a relationship. A personal relationship with land, with farmers, with people. Every dish that he and @therapeutic.chef craft together isn’t just tasty, they are made to be beautiful.

The meals feel like ceremonies, and there is divinity in how every plate is served, making every meal more of an experience than just dinner.

Everything begins with food, which is why this year’s gathering is focused on the harvest.

Two days ago we met Lammas, a moment where the year turns from growing to reaping. The first year’s harvest.

This is a moment to take note of what you’ve grown for yourself this year,

The next table is being set, and it will be shared between us all at Primal Harvest Gathering

You don’t want to miss our next celebration. Comment “HARVEST” to receive the link to the waitlist. We can’t wait to welcome you 👇🏽 taken in Sheepdrove Organic Farm & Green Events Venue by @thegathererwild
