After YEARS of campaigning, yesterday was an emotional day for us. Alongside the incredible
@killedwomennw and supported by
@earn.ies we launched the Unofficial Curriculum📕
This mock textbook exposes what fills the gap when mandatory relationships and sex education (RSE) ends at 16 and the internet becomes young people’s teacher.
It was moving to bring together survivors, young people from
@everyonesinvited, families and campaigners , specialist organisations, MPs, the
@ldnvictimscomm and the Domestic Abuse Commissioner. Together, we called on the government to back
@alistairstrathern RSE Bill when Parliament debates it on 4 December. The bill would make RSE mandatory for all children up to 18.
The need for RSE to 18 could never be more evident , just today the NCVPP highlighted that peer-on-peer abuse is rising among under-18s, and that 15 to 19-year-olds are one of the most common age groups in repeat abuse and are impacted by harmful online influences.
Parliament has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to save lives and protect the next generation of children. But it only happens if MPs back it.
