If you’re looking for wines that overdeliver for the price, put South Africa on your radar🇿🇦🍷
I recently had the opportunity to attend a meal with Boschendal’s Cellar Master & Winemaker, Jacques Viljoen, and taste through a selection of wines from this historic estate, founded in 1685 in the Cape Winelands.
From the 🥂Cap Classique Brut NV to the 🥂1685 Chenin Blanc and 🥂Chardonnay, and then the 🍷1685 Pinotage and 🍷Heritage Collection Black Angus, the wines were a great showcase of the quality and diversity coming out of South Africa 📢And my PSA here is to remind you all- don’t sleep on Pinotage!
Aside from not sleeping on Pinotage, my biggest takeaway? ✨The value✨
These wines offer the kind of balance🤸🏻♀️, character😇 and polish😎 that can be surprisingly hard to find at their respective price points. They’re also a great reminder that drinking well doesn’t always mean spending more, and that South Africa continues to be one of the wine world’s best-kept secrets for quality and value💫
Paired with a delicious meal and plenty of wine conversation, it was a pretty perfect experience🍷✨
