Dendê nation - Samba Reggae 🥁

Team work makes the dream work!

From the many we become one.
@mac_dende here! I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation of all involved with Dendê’s theme this year Ijó Ìdílé - Rooted and rising.

From the delicious full fat beats, flavoured with vocals from @reggaechoir , @bea_shantifa_music and @alehsoul , garnished with dancing from AKOWMI @hawahsambafro , @rosariagracia , and @adrianooliveiradanza , all wrapped in costumes from repurposed materials by @sustentacarnaval through the hands of @pa.u.lu and @marianarpinho .

From my mind, via the mentorship of @paimmarivaldo, asssitance and support from @stella_kia_ and addition of an agbe section through the talented @ursula.tuca.milan to the production of @gandaiaorg . All of our partners, children, groups and individuals came together to make magic on the streets of Notting Hill Carnival. Fantastic!

Each group that poured their energy into our project, @oya_batucada @dakadoumsamba @community_drumming @sambasisterscollective @northsomersetsamba @someoneatthedoorsamba @batukatabatucada , as we share & exchange the same passion for the Afro Brazilian movement!

Immense gratitude for the support of @aceagrams @bigyellowselfstorage and @blk_butterfly as we continue to grow! Plus the amazing design of @ivihribeiro that encapsulates our ethos and colors.

Cheers to @brixton.village @pergolabrixton for the ongoing collaboration and @thefoxandfirkin for hosting our pre carnival night!
To each member of our media team @vikki_marie_page , @version_musictv , Sherina, @petulajojosambista … to each steward, parent and the drivers from both support van and our 1st ever parade with a fully equipped lorry by @musical_touch_sound_system !

A big thank you to NHC Ltd and all of the sound systems, Mas bands, Steel bands, Brazilian bands, traders and the public for respectfully making the 60th anniversary of @nhcarnivalldn so joyful and memorable without forgetting the roots of this carnival.

Rooted and rising - a wish for us all 🤲🏾
